Question Number 62
How do you begin interferential treatment after electrodes have been placed?
1. Warm up phase - I first set the machine to 100 Hz constant and increase intensity to the point where the clients feels a tingle [no muscle contractions are possible at this frequency] for the to get used to the feel of the current2. Workout phase - after 5 minutes I turn down intensity to 0 and set the machine to 10 Hz. I increase intensity again until the client feels the tingle. I then let the 'wheel' run until it reaches 2 Hz, and increase intensity to where muscle contractions are visible as strong as possible but still comfortable for the client. This phase lasts 30 minutes. I will need to increase intensity regularly as muscles get used to the impulses and react less with time.3. Cool down phase - after 30 minutes I decrease intensity to 0 and set matching back to 100 Hz. I increase intensity to the point where the client feels the current and let the 'wheel' run from 100 Hz to 0 and back to 100 Hz [5 minutes] to encourage lactic acid that may have built, to exit the muscles.
