Question Number 50
How do you begin the faradic treatment after electrode pads have been placed appropriately?
1. Warm up phase - I increase intensities to the point where the client feels a tingle but no muscle contractions are visible for the client to get used to the feel of the current2. Workout phase - After 5 minutes I increase intensity to where muscle contractions are visible as strong as possible but still comfortable for the client. This is the actual workout phase [30 minutes]. I will need to increase intensity regularly as muscles get used to the impulses and react less with time3. Cool down phase - after 30 minutes I decrease intensity to the point where muscle contractions aren't visible but the client still feels the current [cool down phase 5 minutes] to encourage lactic acid that may have built, to exit the muscles.
