Assisted Living Facility - A facility that is operated and regulated as a residential environment not medical that provides housing, meals, and one or more personal services for a period exceeding 24 hours to one or more adults who are not relatives of the owner or administrator.


Renewal License - Must be completed at least 60 days and no more than 120 days before current license expires.


CHOW - Change of Ownership


Initial Licensure CHOW - Must be received at least 60 days prior to the change of ownership


Omitted Information Licensure - Must be submitted within 21 days after the request from the agency is made.


The Agency for Healthcare Administration - Also, "the agency", AHCA, Agency Central Office


Length of ALF Licensure - Licensing is biennial unless a shorter license period is specified.


ALF - Assisted Living Facility


Activities of Daily Living - Functions and tasks for self care such as ambulation, bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, and toileting


ADL - Activities of Daily Living


Administrator - An individual at least 21 years of age who is responsible for the operation and maintenance of an assisted living facility.


Standard License - Facilities which are licensed to provide routine personal care services.


ECC - Extended Congregate Care


Extended Congregate Care License - Can be requested by a facility that has been licensed as an assisted living facility for 2 or more years and that provides services, directly or through contract, beyond the standard license and LNS license including being able to provide total catheter care, all oxygen services, and any type of tube feedings.


LNS - Limited Nursing Services
