Rostral - ANSWER-"towards the nose"
Caudal - ANSWER-"towards the tail"
Cerebrum - ANSWER-Makes up about 83% of brain volume and consist of a pair of half globes
Cerebral Hemispheres - ANSWER-Half globes of the cerebrum
Gyri - ANSWER-Thick folds in the cerebrum
Sulci - ANSWER-Shallow grooves in the cerebrum
Longitudinal Fissure - ANSWER-A very deep groove separating the right and left hemispheres from each
other
Corpus Callosum - ANSWER-Thick bundle of nerve fibers connecting the two hemispheres
Cerebellum - ANSWER-Occupies the posterior cranial fossa inferior to the cerebrum and constitutes
about 10% of brain volume and holds over 50% of its neurons
Brainstem - ANSWER-Made up of 4 parts:
1. Diencephalon
2. Midbrain
3. Pons
4. Medulla oblongata
Forebrain - ANSWER-Top of the brain which includes the thalamus, hypothalamus, and cerebral cortex;
responsible for emotional regulation, complex thought, memory aspect of personality; includes the
diencephalon
