  • place knee on residents knee with my other foot beside them and hold gait belt
  • tell resident to stand on the count of three and raise them to a standing position
  • ask if they are dizzy at all and assist them to walk around by standing beside them while holding gait
  • belt (10 steps)

  • once back at bed seat resident the way they were raised (on the count of three)
  • remove gait belt GENTLY while asking how they feel
  • give resident the call light & see if anything is needed
  • wash hands

Question 12: 1. provide privacy

  • wash hands
  • check if it is left or right side (inform resident)
  • inform resident if there is pain STOP immediately!
  • begin hypertenstion abduction
  • hold under the arm/wrist to provide support
  • raise the arm parallel to the ear (repeat 3 times)
