A few people didn’t let the horse run away. 2) The man threw a gold coin towards the driver of the carriage to compensate the death of the poor child. 3) This shows that the speaker is a man full of himself and pride into thinking that a gold coin is worth the life of human. 4) As a result of the incident, the child dies and everybody got to know what kind of a man Monsieur really is. 5) The significance of the incident to the rest of the story is that the Monsieur who neglected the killing of an innocent child by this horse is later on killed by the peasant whose son died when he had followed Monsieur to his place. B. “Eighteen years!” said the passenger , looking at the sun. “Gracious Creator of the day!
