Typical resting membrane potential Is around -80 to -60 mV

This is because they have more K+ inside the cell and more Na+ outside of the cell,

giving them anegative potential.

Negative due to the high relative K+ permeability, and high internal concentration of K+.

Explain the difference between action potentials (all-or-none) and synaptic potentials

(graded).

Synaptic potentials are generally smaller depolarizations that don’t necessarily

generate an action potential while anaction potential is the summation of graded

potentials that occurs when the neuron is depolarized past its threshold potential.
