Introduction- Tasha Miller Picketing lines, catchy sayings, and strikes are all components of a labor union in the thick of a union election or a labor dispute. The motto “Yes we can” was the slogan used during former President Barack Obama’s start of a lucrative senate career and was later used as the saying when launching his successful presidential campaign. Interestingly the Spanish version of this saying, “Si se puede, was coined three decades earlier, by Dolores Huerta, the co-founder of the United Farm Workers labor union [ CITATION Jac15 \l 1033 ]. Labor unions, their sayings and diplomacies have undoubtedly shaped the employment & political landscape. When we think of labor unions what comes to mind? Perhaps your opinion of labor unions will categorize these organizations as either a necessary evil or as a strict avoidance. Unions can be viewed as a necessary evil as well as type of leverage for the employee’s voice when unfair management practices such as low wages, poor benefits, and unfair treatment needs to be addressed. The thought of having a unionized workforce will be viewed as a strict avoidance to a business as this institution can potentially increase labor costs, threaten productivity and the efficiency of the business. Labor unions are a “trade and/or worker’s union, which is an organization that represents the collective interests of employees. Labor unions help workers unite to negotiate with employers over wages, hours, benefits, and other working conditions. They are often industryspecific and tend to be more common in manufacturing, mining, construction, transportation, and the public sector” [ CITATION Wil19 \l 1033 ]. Although many American workers are in favor of unions, union membership is declining. According to the United States Bureau of Labor
