What is the email for NCTRC? - ANSWER- www.nctrc.org When does the NCTRC publish new Certification standards? - ANSWER- March 2016 (between FEB and MAR) How many times a year is the NCTRC exam offered? - ANSWER- Six times a year. What is the process for the examination? - ANSWER- Sign up for the exam with in a two week window by the application deadline date. After you apply you may receive an authorization to test card (ATT) There are two paths to certification - ANSWER- Academic path and the Equivalency path A & B What does the Academic path entail? - ANSWER- The Academic Path is designed for the traditional academic graduate. The steps include: 1. Completion of Bachelor degree or higher with concentration in Recreational Therapy(Therapeutic Recreation) 2. Completion of a minimum 14 week / 560 hour internship supervised by a CTRS 3. Successful completion of the NCTRC Certification Exam Who is the Equivalency path designed for? - ANSWER- Equivalency paths are designed for applicants who have accomplished extensive work in RT in combination with designated coursework to meet the NCTRC Certification Standards. What does the Equivalency path A entail? - ANSWER- PATH A: 18hrs, (5) TR courses 1-3hr REC, 24 hrs Human service courses 5 years full-time TR type work $ 1. Completion of a Bachelor degree or higher 2. Completion of specific coursework in Recreational Therapy (TherapeuticRecreation) and related areas 3. Five (5) years full-time paid work experience in Recreational Therapy (Therapeutic Recreation) 4. Successful completion of the NCTRC Certification Exam What does the Equivalency path B entail? - ANSWER- PATH B
