professionals at appropriate levels of competence. The levels of certification and
experience
often reflect progression within the profession. This combination of professional
development and experience in making decisions within general guidelines rather than
rigid rules develops flexible and self-aware leaders.
Body of Theory/Specialized Knowledge
This charteristic is more than simply having the technical training and skill to do a given
job. Professional competence is critical to a profession because the service provided by
professions could have beneficial or devastating effects on the population it serves.
