Lecture Outline Learning Outcome 1.1: Recognize the duties and responsibilities of a medical assistant.  Lecture Topics o Review the diverse nature of the entry-level and advanced duties of the medical assistant, including general, administrative, clinical, and laboratory. (Refer to Table 1-1: Daily Duties of Medical Assistants and PowerPoint Slide 3) o Distinguish type of facility, kind of specialty, etc. o Describe role of medical assistant as patient navigator, to coordinate resources and connect diverse professionals for care.  Discussion Points o Discuss the variety of settings in which medical assistants can work and the roles they can play in each. o Describe the role of the medical assistant as a patient navigator, and the importance of the medical assistant as a link between collaborating professionals to ensure integ patient care.  Learning Activities o Give each student a large piece of art paper. Ask the student to draw a circle in the middle of the paper and write the word “patient”. Have the student create a patient scenario and draw lines to the other health professionals who would need to be involved in the patient’s care. Have each student present their artwork and scenario to the other cla
