Lung, and Blood Institute, National Asthma Education and Prevention Program, Expert Panel Report 3:
Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma. These guidelines advocate for the use of shortacting beta-agonists (SABA) as a "rescue" agent and inhaled corticosteroids for control in mild to moderate
disease.
ï‚· A stepwise approach for each level of asthma severity is outlined in the guidelines

ï‚· More recently, the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) guidelines (2020) were published which
