CRM wanted integration and was NON-VIOLENT Civil society - ordinary people, groups separate from the state Movement - aims to influence and change attitudes of ppl & govt about an issue Human rights - universal, rights of every single human being Civil rights - dependent on country, rights of individual citizens
Federalism -Each state has a right to govern itself -Federal government in Washington DC (1) -Supreme court (2) -Each state has own government (3) Therefore, even though segregation was outlawed by the federal government, the individual states delayed implementing desegregation
