CA AMBULANCE DMV

High speed patient transportation is usually unnecessary but the five to seven percent that probably require

"Code 3" transport include:

  • Serious Fractures
  • Spinal Injuries
  • Uncontrolled Hemorrhage
  • Heart Attacks - ANSWERSC. Uncontrolled Hemorrhage

The ambulance drivers primary responsibility it:

  • Safe patient transportation
  • Speedy transportation to the closest facility
  • Fuel conservation
  • The quality of medical care provided to the patient - ANSWERSA. Safe patient transportation

You must demonstrate your ability to safety operate an ambulance to:

  • The Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Your Employer
  • The California Highway Patrol
  • All the above - ANSWERSB. Your Employer

When driving an ambulance "Code 3" the driver should:

  • Display a flashing red warning lamp
  • Avoid passing vehicles on their right
  • Sound the siren continuously
