Cerebral Angiography
BEFORE
- Informed consent
- Explain procedure
- Lie the patient flat
- Dye injected into femoral artery. Fluoroscopy & radiologic films taken after injection
- Procedure Sedation
- Skin prep; Chosen site shaved
- Mark peripheral pulses
- May experience feeling of warmth and metallic taste when dye injected
AFTER
- Neurological assessment every 15-30 minutes until vitals stable
- Keep flat in bed 12 to 14 hours
- Check puncture site every hour
- Immobilize site for 6 to 8 hours
- Assess distal pulses, color & temperature
- Observe symptoms of complications (allergic response to dye, puncture site,
- Force fluids
- Accurate I&O

Lumbar Puncture
BEFORE
- Informed Consent
- Explain procedure
- Position patient in lateral recumbent\fetal position at edge of bed
AFTER
- Neuro checks every 15-30 minutes
- Position flat for several hours
- Encourage P.O. fluid to 3,000 mL
- P.O. analgesics for headache
- Observe insertion site for bleeding
