Whenever ends, ways, and means are not clearly understood and defined, an entire process is seriously flawed, resulting in negative impacts.Ends in a strategy are the primary goals of an operation. In that regard, any military operation to be carried out must have the primary objectives to be achieved in support of national security, such as total victory or conditional victory.2 The military operation’s primary goals outline the mission requirements that the military shall be aiming at accomplishing at the end of the operation.Means outlines the various resources that are to be used to achieve set goals.

Military operations must be enabled through resources such as equipped armies, weaponry, and finances. As such, ends outline the criteria for success in an operation.Further, any military operation has its primary goals, which must ultimately be achieved. Ways try to justify how the objectives of any operation are likely to be pursued successfully.3 Without a doubt, it is the link between the end and means as ways to comprehensively detail the various actions to be deployed in a military operation. Consequently, ways define the functional design of a military operation

towards achieving the main goals. A strategic outcome must represent the ideal end- state of any action taken, regardless of the magnitude. One of the main threats which is highlighted by the “Global Trends 2020” is climate change.4 Over the years, planet Earth has witnessed increased temperatures which have devastating impacts. There has been extreme weather events, sea level rise and increased temperatures which are impacting every country across the globe.Climate change physical effects are projected to intensify during the next two decades and 2030’s is expected to have the worst of climate change impacts. Worryingly, developing and poor countries will be disproportionately affected. Although governments and societies will become resilient and expand their adaptation in the backdrop of these climate change impacts, more populations globally will be left behind. People will then begin to compete for fewer resources which is likely to cause conflicts and civil wars. Consequently, military shall witness constant threats as people continue to compete for resources which shall have reduced drastically. As such, Geographic combatant must be prepared to combat these conflicts and wars on their different areas of jurisdiction.
